Army Men Lamp
SPRING 2017 / EMERGING DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY / KYLE TALBOTT
The goal of this exercise was to parametrically derive a perforated screen strategy using Grasshopper for Rhino. Inspired by an Army Men playset, the perforations are made from iconic images from the playset that are randomly distributed across frosted acrylic sheets. Furthermore, some of the action figures from the playset were painted and their heads positioned on parametrically derived dots. The frame can hold the Army Men slide and two screens simultaneously which allows the screens to be rearranged, creating multiple pattern and perforation arrangements.
